(Na3AlF6). Synthetic cryolite is a white crystalline powder manufactured from hydrofluoric acid, sodium carbonate, and aluminium. Synthetic cryolite is used chiefly as a flux in the electrolytic production of aluminum as it effectively lowers down the melting point of alumina. It is used in the glass and enamel industries, in bonded abrasives as a filler, in making salts of sodium and aluminum and porcelaneous glass and in the manufacture of insecticides. Cryolite is a relatively safe fruit and vegetable insecticide. The fluoride ion inhibits many enzymes that contain iron, calcium, and magnesium.
sodium cryolite is a white crystalline powder or a sandy-size granularity, and a pinkish crystalline powder or a sandy-size granularity as well. Sp.gr.2.95—3.05g/cm3, melting point about 1025°C, specific heat 1.056j/g°C at 18—100°C. It’s slightly soluble in water, but insoluble in anhydrous hydrogen fluoride. The content of its crystal water will be decreased while the increasing of the molecular ratio, therefore its loss on ignition will be also decreased while the increasing of the molecular ratio. After the paste of synthetic cryolite with different molecular ratio dehydrates, the loss on ignition at 800°C will appear 10.34%, 6.22% and 2.56% when the molecular ratio reaches 1.74, 2.14 and 2.63 reactively.
Features:
Sodium cryolite mainly used as a flux in the aluminum smelting by fused-salt electrolysis; also an opalizer in the manufacture of enamel; an opacifier and auxiliary solvent of glass and enamel; an insecticide of crops; a flux in aluminum alloy casting; and in the production of ferrous alloy and effervescing steel; as well as a wear-resistant filler for resin and rubber-boned abrasive wheels.
sodium cryolite is used as flux in aluminum smelting, cropper insecticide, flux and whiting agent of enamel glaze. It is also used in the manufacture of milky white glass, aluminum alloy and boiling steel. Its used as ingredient of grinding wheel.

Sodium Cryolite (Na₃AlF₆)
Sodium Cryolite is a white crystalline powder, also known by other names such as Sodium Aluminum Fluoride, Sodium Fluoroaluminate, and Trisodium Hexafluoroaluminate. It is primarily manufactured from hydrofluoric acid, sodium carbonate, and aluminum. Sodium Cryolite plays a crucial role in various industrial applications, particularly in the production of aluminum. It is an essential flux in the electrolytic production of aluminum and is also widely used in glass and enamel industries, abrasives manufacturing, and as an insecticide.

Potassium Cryolite (also known as Potassium Fluoroaluminate) is an inorganic compound with the chemical formula K3AlF6. It is a white or light gray crystalline powder and is primarily used as an industrial flux and abrasive.
Physical and Chemical PropertiesAppearance: White or grayish-white powder or granules.
Solubility: Slightly soluble in water.
Melting Point: It has a relatively low melting point (approximately 560°C to 580°C), which makes it highly effective as a flux.
Composition: It is a complex salt consisting of potassium, aluminum, and fluorine.
Abrasives Industry: One of its most common roles is as a "filler" in resin-bonded grinding wheels and abrasives. It helps dissipate heat and prevents the metal surface from oxidizing during heavy grinding.
Metal Processing: It is used as a fluxing agent in the smelting and refining of secondary aluminum. It helps lower the melting temperature and assists in the removal of magnesium (magnesium removal agent).
Glass and Ceramics: Used in the production of opalescent glass and as an opacifier in ceramic glazes and enamels.
Welding: It is an ingredient in the coating of welding rods and in soldering fluxes to help clean the metal surfaces and improve the flow of the filler metal.
Pyrotechnics: Occasionally used as an additive in specialized fireworks to produce specific color effects or to adjust the burning rate.
Potassium Cryolite should be handled with care due to its fluoride content:
Inhalation: Chronic inhalation of dust can lead to fluorosis (accumulation of fluoride in bones and teeth).
Environmental Impact: It is considered toxic to aquatic life; spills should be contained and prevented from entering water systems.
Storage: Keep in a cool, dry, well-ventilated area in tightly closed containers. It should be stored away from strong acids
